01 About

An appliance repairer who got tired of guessing

Licensed electrical contractor for Springfield Lakes and the Ipswich corridor

Nathan Faulkner spent three years fixing kettles, toasters and washing machines on the service bench at a whitegoods repairer in Goodna before he ever sat an electrical apprenticeship exam. Appliances taught him to read symptoms before he touched anything: a toaster that trips a breaker is not a toaster problem, it is a circuit telling you something. When he finally got his contractor licence in 2014 he brought the bench habit with him and started Bremer Line out of a garage in Springfield Lakes, because that was where he and his family had just bought their first house, one street back from the lake path.

Springfield Lakes and the growth corridor around it, Augustine Heights, Redbank Plains, Ripley, are mostly newer estates, but new does not mean simple. A house built in stages by three different trades over eighteen months collects wiring shortcuts the way an old Queenslander collects white ants, and the volume builders in this corridor move fast. We get called to a lot of switchboards that were never labelled properly and outlets that were wired to whatever circuit was closest on the day.

The turning point was a job at Augustine Heights in 2018. A family had already paid two different electricians to replace a power point that kept tripping the safety switch, and it kept coming back within a week each time. Nobody had opened the switchboard. Nathan isolated the circuit, pulled the board apart and found a neutral bar connection that had never been tightened properly at the original build, arcing quietly every time the load on that circuit climbed. He retorqued the connection, tested every circuit on the board while he was in there, and it never tripped again. Since then the rule at Bremer Line has been the same on every job: isolate first, trace the actual fault, and only repair what you have confirmed is broken.

There are four of us now. Nathan and Renee do the licensed electrical work, Josh is most of the way through his apprenticeship, and Diane runs the bookings, the quotes and the paperwork that keeps a compliance certificate arriving in your inbox the same day rather than three weeks later. We are not the fastest quote you will get in the corridor and we will not swap a part over the phone without seeing the circuit it sits on. If your home has started doing something it did not used to do, we would rather trace it than guess at it.

02What we hold to

Isolate the power, trace every fault back to its actual cause, fix it once to the standard, and leave a written compliance certificate that means what it says.

  • Isolate power before anything else happens
  • Trace the fault back to its actual cause, not just the symptom
  • Fixed price confirmed before work starts, in writing
  • A compliance certificate on every job that needs one, no exceptions

03What is different

Four things we do on every job

  1. 01 Every job is fault-found before it is repaired, never patched at the symptom
  2. 02 A written compliance certificate on every job that requires one, not only the big ones
  3. 03 The electrician who diagnosed the job is the one who comes back for the follow-up
  4. 04 Standard hourly rate and call-out fee quoted up front, never padded once we are on site

04How we work

Methodical, direct, dry humoured

Methodical and dry, like someone talking you through a fault rather than selling you a fix. Warm about people, plain about wiring.

Methodical, Direct, Unflappable, Dry humoured. We would rather trace a fault properly than guess at it, and we will tell you honestly if a job is not one we should be quoting over the phone.

Book a visit

Most non-urgent bookings are scheduled inside three to five business days. Tell us what is happening and we will confirm a time, or call now if it genuinely cannot wait.

Good to have ready

  • Access to the switchboard, or know where it is if we have not been before
  • A rough idea of when the problem started and what you were doing at the time
  • Anyone else in the house told, if we need to isolate power for part of a visit
  • Photos of the fitting, outlet or damage, if you can get them safely from a distance

  • Mon to Fri 6:30am to 4:00pm
  • Sat 7:00am to 11:00am, booked jobs only
  • Sun Closed

The phone forwards to whoever is on call after hours. Anything involving exposed wiring, a burning smell or a tripped main is moved to the front of the queue; everything else gets a call back from 6:30am the next working day.
