01How we trace it

Five steps, the same order on every job

The exact process behind fault finding and diagnostics, drawn the way the mark itself traces a fault.

How a fault gets traced at Bremer Line A line traces from isolate through test, trace, explain and fix, stepping up once through a single right-angled jog the way the logo mark itself does.
  1. 01

    Isolate

Power off at the switchboard before anything else happens. Nothing gets tested or touched while a circuit is still live.

  2. 02

    Test

A calibrated meter at the board and at the affected outlets or fittings, not a guess based on what looks worn.

  3. 03

    Trace

The fault followed back along the circuit to its actual cause, a loose termination, a failed component or a compromised cable.

  4. 04

    Explain

A plain language finding and a written quote before anyone reaches for a replacement part.

  5. 05

    Fix

The repair proceeds only once the price is approved, then every circuit touched is tested under load before we leave.

02The method

The flicker is not the fault. It is the fault waving at you.

Bremer Line isolates the power, traces the fault back to where it actually starts, and only then picks up a tool, so the repair holds and the compliance certificate means what it says.

01
Isolate power before anything else happens
02
Trace the fault back to its actual cause, not just the symptom
03
Fixed price confirmed before work starts, in writing
04
A compliance certificate on every job that needs one, no exceptions

03Every service

Eight services, grouped by where the job sits

Diagnostics first, then the standing compliance work, repairs, the upgrades, and emergency, always available.

A switchboard face showing a circuit breaker beside a safety switch A drawn switchboard cabinet with a row of circuit breakers on the left and one RCD safety switch on the right, each labelled with what it actually protects. TEST

04The board, explained

A breaker and a safety switch are not the same thing

Most Queensland homes need both, on every circuit. Here is what each one actually does, in the words we use on site rather than the words on the box.

Circuit breaker

Protects: The wiring itself, from carrying more current than it is rated for

Trips: On overload or a short circuit, before the cable overheats

Safety switch (RCD)

Protects: A person, by cutting power in a fraction of a second if current is leaking to earth

Trips: On earth leakage, which a circuit breaker alone will never catch

05Ready for the next thing

EV charger and solar-ready, from the same starting question

Capacity checked first, every time. A charger that trips under load is a worse result than a longer cable run.

Does the switchboard have spare capacity for what you want to add. Everything below starts here.

EV charger

EV charger installs

A dedicated circuit and a wall-mounted charger, sized to your switchboard and your car, not a generic install off the shelf.

  • Switchboard capacity assessment before quoting
  • Dedicated circuit run to the charger location
  • Wall-mounted charger supplied and installed, or your own unit installed
$850 to $2,200 Book an assessment

Solar-ready

Solar and clean-energy circuit connections

Renee holds a clean energy accreditation for connecting solar and battery circuits, and Nathan holds the restricted licence endorsement that covers both solar and EV work. If a solar install or battery upgrade needs a switchboard that can actually carry it, this is the same assessment as the EV path, priced against what your board needs.

  • Switchboard and metering capacity assessed before quoting
  • Circuit work for solar inverters and battery systems
  • Compliance certificate issued the same day
Quoted on assessment Ask about solar-ready

Prefer to talk it through first? Call 0491 570 159 and ask for a switchboard capacity check.

06When it cannot wait

Same day response for anything unsafe: a tripped main that will not reset, exposed wiring, or a burning smell from a switchboard.

  1. 01 Call and describe what is happening; we will tell you if it is safe to wait
  2. 02 Isolate anything unsafe over the phone if that is possible
  3. 03 Attend on site and make the fault safe
  4. 04 Quote any further repair before proceeding
  5. 05 Follow up with a written summary and a compliance certificate if one is needed

The phone forwards to whoever is on call after hours. Anything involving exposed wiring, a burning smell or a tripped main is moved to the front of the queue; everything else gets a call back from 6:30am the next working day.

08The practice

Nobody had opened the switchboard. Nathan isolated the circuit, pulled the board apart and found a neutral bar connection that had never been tightened properly at the original build.

The 2018 Augustine Heights job that set the rule at Bremer Line

There are four of us now. Nathan and Renee do the licensed electrical work, Josh is most of the way through his apprenticeship, and Diane runs the bookings, the quotes and the paperwork that keeps a compliance certificate arriving in your inbox the same day rather than three weeks later.

  • Queensland electrical contractor licence
  • Member of Master Electricians Australia
  • Test and tag certification for portable appliances
  • Public liability insurance of ten million dollars, certificate available on request
  • Restricted licence endorsement for solar and EV circuit connections held by our senior electricians

09What customers say

Fifteen reviews, across the corridor

Six of fifteen. The rest, with a filter by service, are on the reviews page.

  • Nathan spent forty minutes at the switchboard before he touched anything, found a loose neutral that two other blokes had missed. Lights have not flickered since.

Callum R. Springfield Lakes Fault finding and diagnostics

  • Old fuse box finally gone. Took most of the day but they warned us about that when they quoted it, and the new board is labelled properly for the first time since we bought the place.

Priya V. Augustine Heights Switchboard and safety switch upgrades

  • Got it done well ahead of the deadline instead of scrambling later. Explained why hardwiring wasn't possible in our roof and used the wireless set instead, honestly a better fit for our place.

Deacon M. Redbank Plains Interconnected smoke alarms

  • Fan is beautifully balanced now, no wobble at all. Only reason for four stars is they had to reschedule once due to another job running long, though they called ahead rather than leaving us waiting.

Georgia T. Springfield Central Lighting and ceiling fan installation

  • Checked our board first and told us straight that we needed a small upgrade before the charger would cope with the ducted air con running at the same time. Glad they said something rather than just installing it.

Marcus F. Ripley EV charger installs

  • Kitchen power point had been dead for weeks. Turned out to be damaged wiring behind the wall from a previous renovation, not the point itself. Neat patch job, tested under load before they left.
