From adding a missing safety switch to a full rewire of an old fuse board, with a durable label and a compliance certificate when it is done.
A lot of the corridor's older switchboards, and a surprising number of newer ones, are still running on shared circuits without the safety switch coverage current standards expect. We isolate the supply, upgrade or replace the board, fit RCD safety switches to every circuit that needs one, and relabel the board clearly before we leave. Where a board is at end of life we replace it outright rather than patch around it.

02How it runs
5 steps, in this order
Typical visit: 2 to 6 hours depending on scope. You are told which step we are on, without having to ask.
- 01 Isolate the supply and assess the existing board and circuits
- 02 Quote the safety switch addition or the full board replacement in writing
- 03 Carry out the upgrade with the supply isolated for the shortest time possible
- 04 Test every circuit on the new or upgraded board
- 05 Relabel the board and issue the compliance certificate

How do I know if my switchboard needs upgrading?
The clearest signs are ceramic fuses instead of circuit breakers, no safety switches at all, or a board that has been added to so many times it no longer matches its own labels. We will give you a straight answer on the day, not a sales pitch.
Is a safety switch the same as a circuit breaker?
No. A circuit breaker protects the wiring from overload. A safety switch, or RCD, protects a person from electric shock by cutting power in a fraction of a second if current is leaking somewhere it should not. Most Queensland homes need both, on every circuit.
Do I get anything in writing?
Yes. A compliance certificate for the work performed, issued the same day, along with a clearly relabelled board so the next person who opens it knows what is what.

The phone forwards to whoever is on call after hours. Anything involving exposed wiring, a burning smell or a tripped main is moved to the front of the queue; everything else gets a call back from 6:30am the next working day.
