FAQ

Questions we get asked

Call-out fees, smoke alarm deadlines, licensing rules and what to expect on the day.

01Cost and how we charge

How quickly can you get someone out?

Most non-urgent bookings are scheduled inside three to five business days. Genuine safety issues are treated as an emergency call-out and usually seen the same day, outside of severe weather events when every crew in the corridor is already out.

What is your call-out fee?

$150 on a weekday, $220 in the evening, $320 on a weekend or public holiday, covering the first thirty minutes on site. Standard bookings during business hours are quoted per job rather than on a call-out basis.

Do you charge a fixed price or an hourly rate?

Diagnostics and call-outs are priced as call-outs. Once the fault is confirmed, most repairs are quoted as a fixed price before we proceed; larger jobs like a switchboard replacement are billed at our standard hourly rate after the first thirty minutes, and you always see the number before we start.

What payment do you take?

Card on the day, bank transfer, or an invoice on seven day terms for agencies and commercial accounts. There is no surcharge for card payment.

02Compliance and safety

Do you provide a compliance certificate?

Yes, on every job that requires one under Queensland's electrical safety rules, emailed the same day the work is finished. It is not an optional extra we charge for separately.

Do I actually need interconnected smoke alarms?

Any home that has been sold or leased already needs to comply, and that rule has applied from 2022 onward. Every remaining owner-occupied home in Queensland needs interconnected photoelectric alarms by 1 January 2027. We can do the whole job in a morning for most houses.

Is it legal for me to do my own electrical work?

No. Prescribed electrical work in Queensland can only be carried out by a licensed electrician. Even simple looking jobs like replacing a light fitting or a power point need a licence, both for your safety and because unlicensed work can void your home insurance.

03On the day

Can you upgrade my old fuse box?

Yes. If your board still uses ceramic fuses instead of circuit breakers, or does not have safety switches on every circuit, we will assess it and quote a full replacement rather than patch around the parts that are failing.

Do you install EV chargers?

Yes, and we check the switchboard's spare capacity before we quote, because a lot of newer homes in the corridor are already close to their limit with ducted air conditioning and a pool pump on the same board.

What suburbs do you cover?

Springfield Lakes and the growth corridor either side of the Bremer River, out to about twenty eight kilometres. That takes in Augustine Heights, Redbank Plains, Ripley, Goodna, Yamanto and Ipswich itself. If you are just outside it, ring us and we will tell you straight.

Will my power be off for the whole visit?

Only the circuit we are actively working on, for most jobs. A full switchboard replacement is the exception, where the whole property is without power for part of the job; we will tell you the expected window when we book it.

Do you work with property managers and real estate agents?

Yes. We invoice the managing agency directly on request and send the tenant or owner a copy of the compliance certificate and any report.

Do I need to be home for the visit?

For diagnostic and repair visits, yes, so we can show you what we found and confirm the price before proceeding. Straightforward installs booked in advance can sometimes go ahead with a key safe or a trusted neighbour, which we can discuss when you book.

Do you check the ceiling before installing a fan?

Always. A fan on a fixing point rated only for a light will work loose within a year. We brace the mount if it needs it before we hang anything from it.

04Book a visit

Book a visit

Most non-urgent bookings are scheduled inside three to five business days. Tell us what is happening and we will confirm a time, or call now if it genuinely cannot wait.

Good to have ready

  • Access to the switchboard, or know where it is if we have not been before
  • A rough idea of when the problem started and what you were doing at the time
  • Anyone else in the house told, if we need to isolate power for part of a visit
  • Photos of the fitting, outlet or damage, if you can get them safely from a distance

  • Mon to Fri 6:30am to 4:00pm
  • Sat 7:00am to 11:00am, booked jobs only
  • Sun Closed

The phone forwards to whoever is on call after hours. Anything involving exposed wiring, a burning smell or a tripped main is moved to the front of the queue; everything else gets a call back from 6:30am the next working day.
